The Biotop Plant Filter provides clear conditions naturally. The water streams slowly down through the planted floor of the filter bed which cleanses the water as it is filtered through:
- Turbidities are filtered out of the water. The vital plankton is not destroyed in this process.
- On the surface of the filter grains a biofilm develops which reduces organic impurities.
- Bacteria and germs are eliminated from the water.
- The roots of the plants permanently keep the filter substrate permeable.
- The filter substrate does not have to be changed, as the nutrients that are freed are ingested by the plants
The result is clear, hygienically clean water. The Biotop Plant Filter can be incorporated into the water cycle so that no additional pumps are necessary.
The Plant Filter is integrated into the regeneration zone, eliminating the need for further surface space, as in two and three-chamber systems.
