Amidst the densely populated residential area of Munich a garden was created for the family for rest and relaxation. It was not such an easy task, because besides recreation it had to provide the right setting for parties and garden events. What could be nicer than being able to swim in one's own private pond, spend evenings around a warm garden "fireplace", and entertain guests over food and wine in a softly lit atmosphere where shrubbery has been transformed into works of garden art? The arborvitaes are lightened up by the Mediterranean plantings, and privacy is offered by the Japanese-style screens - made of moss-green aluminum, of which the squares are filled with white milk-glass - planted with a variety of vines. The walls constructed of chamois-colored, hand-made natural stone squares serve to balance the height of the planted areas with the natural pool as well as to conceal the various neighbors' garage walls. This also provides the garden with the desired depth and spaciousness. The brown-colored terraces and paths are made of quartzite natural stone slabs, and the grooves are filled with dark quartzite mosaic stones. These shades of brown harmonize well with the wooden dock and deck areas around the Natural Pool. The roofed sitting area adjoining the house and the sitting area under the pergola, built of domestic larch wood, makes it possible to spend time in the garden any time of day and in almost any weather, as well as all year round, due to the revolving garden fireplace. The lawn is a green ribbon connecting the house, conservatory, and the deck areas with the Natural Pool. The trees, shrubbery and flowers transform the garden into a living room for all four seasons.
