Last but not least the company Fuchs baut Gärten from Lenggries was among the finalists with a very original design of a natural pool. With a designer garden conceived by the landscape architect Wolfgang Pangratz, with the goal to “make the architectural ideal become an integrated living room indoors and out”, Fred Fuchs entered the race to add more Design Frog King awards to his previous conquests. An intimate atrium was built on the long narrow property, at the end of which the living room is divided into two separate parts.

The sunlight garden area between the entry and the house was used for the pool location. In order not to contrast with the building’s elegant form and straight lines, the regeneration zone that would usually be situated next to the rectangular swimming area was built at the border of the property on a lower level. This substrate filter was planted with willows and marsh plants which are typical for this former water-meadow landscape. The editorial department of the book “Traumgärten” (Dream gardens) (Callwey-Verlag) was so impressed with the garden that they published it in their exclusive garden book. However, the natural pool jury perhaps preferred less strictly architectural features and therefore did not award Fred Fuchs and its “Gardeners of Eden” team the coveted prize.
