Already in his first year as a natural pool partner company Will Woodhouse succeeded in getting 2nd place by presenting his demonstration pool located on his company premises in Cambridge. In contrast to his customer orders the English garden designer, who has been using the element water in his garden concepts for many years, was not under any time pressure to complete the pool. Thus he was able to plan everything in detail and without rushing. This way he could convince the English customers, who only knew very little about natural pools, about the beauty and significance of a natural pool. In addition, the pool should be big enough so that customers such as hotel owners could get a realistic idea of how it would look. It was a major challenge but he did an excellent job: due to several swimming areas, private as well as commercial customers can perfectly picture their own pools. He used all sorts of shapes for the design and all the technical equipment – including a water heating system – as well as different kinds of materials. This way everybody can see how the different features can turn the property into a lush garden, such as highlighting the views or the reflections of light and sky as well as of buildings and plants. As a wide range of possible garden designs was combined with unique English garden art, the jury was very impressed and Will Woodhouse came in 2nd. He had only entered the competition to “warm up” a little. One can only wonder what the next contest will bring.
