Tipped the Scales In 1998 Christian
Bahl took over his father’s company,
and in restructuring he focused exclusively
on the planning and implementing high-class
private gardens. In redesigning the show garden
on company premises the natural pool that
was already there formed the perfect focal
point. Although the natural pool underwent
a complete “renovation” and the
latest technical equipment was also installed.
Not a single spot in the garden seems overcrowded,
high-quality materials were used throughout
without seeming excessive, and the well thought-out
lighting makes it possible to also enjoy the
garden and pool in the evening.
What is striking in this garden are the many
different seating possibilities, which give
the garden a different “face”
in each direction. Topiaries, natural materials
and the general landscaping appear over and
over again in straight rectangular shapes,
and yet there is a contrast to this trend
in the garden by means of romantic elements
like the rounded boxwood, planted against
the backdrop of the pavilion. “The show
garden is a gesamtkunstwerk“, said Biotop
boss Peter Petrich and presented the proud
winner Christian Bahl with the Design Frog
King 2008.
