Description:
The existing community pool in Sand in Taufers (South Tyrol/Italy) was becoming old and in need of renovation. The local planner was given the task of finding a solution. He came up with the unconventional idea of building a Natural Pool.
The existing pool was partially leveled and expanded. A children's Swimming Area including a brook to play in and a separated non-swimmer's area were integrated into the new Natural Pool. The surrounding grounds were newly designed and furnished with two beach volleyball courts, among other extras. Today the Natural Pool and its grounds represent an important addition for the tourist community and its range of summer activities.
The community is pleased about the economic success of the pool as well. The entire Natural Pool including the restaurant was leased to a private operator, freeing the community from any operating costs.
