For years Marianne and Josef Irlinger had been thinking about building a natural pool instead of a “traditional” one for their hotel in Bischofswiesen which is situated about 640 meters above sea level. Furthermore, the pool could be filled with water from their own spring. Apart from that the hotel’s spa programme is also very nature-oriented.
What actually made them finally have the pool built was the renovation of the Aschauerweiher public pool in 2002. The traditional public pool was transformed into a natural pool. The Irlinger family, who opened their 4 star hotel two years ago, was really thrilled by the result.
During the swimming season the entire water volume (500 m³) is revolved within 72 hours. The electricity demand amounts to approximately 2.0 kW and two surface skimmers draw out impurities and clean the water surface.
The investment was absolutely worth it: “Our house has become much more attractive. Since it is known that we have a pool in front of our house the number of guests during the summer has increased a lot.”
