After having been at a fair in Rotterdam in 2000, Annie and Gert-Jan Stolk, both in their 50ies and from the Netherlands, knew at once that they had just been presented a project they had been looking for more than two years now: the Alpenferienpark Reisach. After the entire family had moved the park was generously rebuilt and expanded, the restaurant was completely newly arranged and the chalets were also renovated.
It was very important for the owners to maintain the style of the former natural camping site. The 50 m large pool which had not been in operation for some time due to regulatory requirements was a thorn in the Stolks’ side. Surveys among guests have shown that the camping site would be even more attractive for them if a pool was available.
The former pool was integrated into a small natural pool. Not only the Stolk family and their guests, but also the entire community of Kirchbach was convinced about the result. A skating rink next to the pool is mostly used by locals to play curling there. The local tourism agencies do not consider the Alpenferienpark to be a competition for them, but see it as an ideal additional tourist attraction in the region.
