It is actually Mr Sandrell’s “fault” that the hotel, owned by the Netzer family from Schruns in Vorarlberg, has a natural pool as an additional feature in its spa programme. The former mayor of Sandrell had the first natural public pool site in Vorarlberg built in the neighbouring community Gaschurn in 1997. Ever since then it has been the hot spot for guests as well as for locals, because there “is always something going on”.
Yet this was exactly what the Netzer family did not want for their planned spa hotel. The very special features of the “Mountain Beach“ could and should not be copied. They particularly wanted to meet the children’s needs. In the first drafts an adventure island and bridges from which the children were able to jump right into the floods were drawn. However, it was the children’s safety that eventually dominated the adventurous features. Therefore a shallow children swimming section was built so that the parents were always able to check on them.
The pool has become the meeting point for the guests as well as for the Netzer family. There you spend time together after returning from the mountains, having played golf or having had a beauty treatment. And in the evening everybody tells their adventures and stories they have had during the day, such as the “Frigi-Kälte-Wickel” (a treatment in order to tighten the connective tissue), the new golf handicap or the breathtaking view from the top of the mountains.
